FAQS

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

The Voodoo Lounge is located upstairs at 174 James Street, Northbridge, directly above Rocket Room. We are on the corner of Mountain Terrace and James Street, next door to Oliver’s Restaurant and diagonally across the road from the Paramount Nightclub.

WHAT TIME DO YOU OPEN AND WHAT TIME DO YOU CLOSE?

We open at 8.30p.m., each Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday night.

We close at 2a.m. every Wednesday and Thursday night. On Friday and Saturday nights we trade until 3.a.m. The exception to the rule is, if the crowd is still drinking and tipping the dancers and maintaining its numbers, we stay open later (up until 4a.m.). Even though we are licensed to trade until 6a.m. we do not like to trade after 4a.m. due to the changing demographics of the people outside on the streets: we like our customers leaving on a high note, arriving home safely and coming back regularly.

WHAT IS THE ENTRY FEE?

The Entry Fee is only $10 per person on Wednesday and Thursday nights and $15 per head on Friday and Saturdays. We do discounts for Bucks Parties (see the Bucks Party page on this website) and members get in free on production of their membership card (with one (1) accompanied guest).

For some of our bigger Balls / Events the ticket price is set according to the event: prices will be displayed on this website as the event approaches.

DO YOU HAVE AN ATM AND EFTPOS?

Yes we do. The ATM machine is located at the top of the stairs, just before you pass through the door into the Reception area.

The EFTPOS is located at the end of the bar, closest to the Reception. There is a $5 surcharge for every $100 cash withdrawal and any part thereof each additional $100. The cash limit is $200 per draw. You may have continuous draws. There is no surcharge on card draws to pay a tab. Your bank also has a surcharge; however that is set between you and them.

WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE?

The Dress Code is “Neat casual”. We work by the old saying “clothes do not make the man but manners do”. If you cannot make the effort to ‘play the game’, you are not coming in. Show us the respect by showing us you have made the effort and don’t act like a Dickhead and we will accord you the same respect back.

ARE YOU LOCATED CLOSE TO THE RESTAURANTS?

Yes, we are located at the “Top End” of James Street, on the restaurant strip. Our neighbours are Oliver’s on James St, serving English style dishes; the Sorrento,  an industry icon, serves Italian cuisine and is only 4 buildings down on the same side; the Mez, an established Mediterranean Restaurant, whilst; across the street we have Mexican, Chinese and European eateries. Within one block we have both Valentino’s and the Romany (relocated up from William Street), both with long established dining credentials. If you’re looking for a ‘one-stop block’, our Top End of Northbridge has it all.

WHAT NIGHT DO YOU GET THE ‘AFTER-DINNER CROWD’?

We tend to get the after-dinner crowd on Wednesday and Thursday evenings (usually early, between 8.30p.m. opening and midnight).  This tends to be mainly a “suits crowd”, with people walking up from the restaurants or interstate businessmen venturing out from their hotels for a couple of quiet drinks and some friendly company.

WHAT IS THE BEST NIGHT TO VISIT SPECIFICALLY FOR A LAP-DANCE?

Wednesday and Thursday nights early are the best time to monopolise the dancers’ and get a lap-dance, as those nights are not as crowded as the weekend nights and the atmosphere is more laid-back and conducive to intimate conversation. Although a lap-dance any time is always good fun.

WHAT IS THE PRICE OF A LAP-DANCE?

Lap-dances tend to start at $50 for three (3) songs, however as subcontractors the dancers negotiate their own prices and are responsible for the issuing of any tax receipts directly to their customers. Different dancers tend to charge more, usually around $100, on the basis that they are Penthouse Pets, other centrefolds or have the ‘Best in the West’ booty or breasts, etc.

HOW DO I GET A LAP-DANCE WITH THE DANCER OF MY CHOICE?

Speak directly with the dancer in question, or if you are shy ask the DJ, Receptionist, Waitress or Management and they will put you together.

WHAT ARE THE CONDITIONS OF ENTRY POSTED AT THE DOOR

Upon entering and paying the prescribed entry fee you are contractually bound by the following terms and conditions.

1.      That Management reserve the right to refuse entry.

2.      That you are over the age of eighteen (18) years.

3.      That you must be dressed in clean, neat, casual and non-offensive clothing.

4.      That you will be denied entry if you appear to be visibly impaired by alcohol.

5.      That you will present yourself to the Reception desk and pay the prescribed entry fee.

6.      That you do not find nudity or erotic striptease to be either offensive or indecent.

7.      That you will act in a polite, friendly and respectful manner to all other patrons, the staff, the security and dancers, and further, will refrain from misogynist language or conduct.

8.      That you will vacate the premises when requested to do so by security or management.

9.      That you acknowledge all dancers are sub-contractors and as a consequence they are solely responsible for issuing any receipts for lap-dances.

If you breach any of these conditions, the management and license holder reserve the right to litigate against you for damages, losses and costs.

DOES THE VOODOO LOUNGE HAVE AIRCONDITIONING

Yes, we have refrigerated, ducted airconditioning. We are one of the very few nightclubs in Western Australia which has refrigerated airconditioning. The other venues use water-cooled systems which on a hot day actually increase the humidity of the room. Our reverse cycle airconditioning provides instant relief to patrons walking in off the hot sidewalks in the midst of summer, or warmth on a cold winters night, and is just another example of why our venue is an industry leader.

DOES THE VOODOO LOUNGE HAVE WHEELCHAIR ACCESS

No, unfortunately we don’t. The building was constructed in the 1930’s and the license was introduced prior to building regulations specifying this requirement.

HAS THE VOODOO LOUNGE WON ANY AWARDS?

YES. In 2010 we won Best Gentleman’s Club in Australia at the Australian Adult Industry Awards held in Melbourne, and this year we won Best Live Entertainment Venue in Australia. We also play host to the annual S.T.A.R. Awards (the Striptease Artists Recognition Awards).

HAVE YOUR DANCERS WON ANY AWARDS?

Yes. We have resident Penthouse Pets, our competitors in national competitions have taken out Miss Oceania, Hustler Centrefold, Exotic Angels Calendar Girls and Miss Erotica, whilst One of our pole-dancers (Felix Cane) went on to star in Circus du Soleil’s show ‘Zumaniti’, staged in Los Vegas. She is currently starring and doing a solo pole performance in the latest Cirque du Soleil tour de force, ‘Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour’. We actively promote excellence in every human endeavour and ensure we always have a good cross-section of dancers, from classic to alternative in their presentation and appearance.

DO YOU HAVE AN ‘INDUSTRY NIGHT’?

Yes, Wednesday and Thursday nights late (from around 11p.m. through to 2a.m.), we get a large industry following. The Voodoo Lounge has evolved, due to its strict policy of good manners and neutrality in politics, as the gathering place for most bar staff (male and female), waiters and waitresses, chefs, doormen, musicians (including touring acts with their drivers), even dancers from ‘outside’ agencies, to chill out after work and unwind in a friendly bar. We do a surprisingly busy trade mid-week due to the reputation we have built with the restaurant proprietors, hotel concierges and liquor industry. After all, how does the music score from the television show Cheers go? “Everyone wants to come to a bar where somebody knows your name”.

WHAT CAN WE EXPECT FROM THE ENTERTAINMENT?

As well as pole-dancing, lap-dances and striptease we stage bi-monthly events. These attract a friendly, diverse crowd who actually want to be entertained – not walk in the door, stand in the dark with their feet stuck to the carpet, get slugged $20 for the privilege and call it ‘entertainment’, as happens in most other clubs. We enjoy good, fun, rollicking shows, dress-up balls and competitions, tossed together with skilled pole-performers and the most beautiful (and skilled) dancers in Australia today.

DO YOU STAGE ANY MIDWEEK EVENTS?

On different occasions we stage mid-week events, aimed at the striptease industry, hotel concierges, fetish community etc. Thus if you catch one of those nights you can expect a packed house and a queue. Often these events are sold out so check our main webpage for events and grab a ticket. You will be glad you did, they are truly great nights.

WHAT NIGHTS DO YOU HAVE THE MAIN ‘BIG EVENTS’?

Generally our big events are held on the Friday night. We have such a big, regular crowd plus lots of bucks’ parties (early) on a Saturday night that our events ensure a different and new crowd are continuously introduced to our venue through the diversity and appeal of those events. We certainly are not ‘your average strip club’, as we morph between every aspect of striptease, erotic dance, the exotic and the carnival, every Friday and Saturday night late.

Some of our Balls (the Hookers Ball, the Tattoo Ball, the Fetish Ball and STAR Awards) fall on a midweek calendar and attract such a strong following they have become almost cause celebrity.

WHAT EVENTS DO YOU HAVE ON SATURDAY NIGHTS

Every Saturday night around 1.30a.m. we stage our very popular After Midnite Show. This hour of entertainment is set in the traditional ‘variety’ format, but as with everything ‘Voodoo, is reinterpreted through a 21st century erotic kaleidoscope. It is this singular, long running and overwhelming supported event that catapults the Voodoo Lounge into overdrive every Saturday night and why, essentially, we were compelled to run all our major events on the Friday night. By 11.30p.m. the room is starting to fill up so around 11a.m. (as the bucks shows depart) is a good time to secure a place in the room and not have to queue.

CAN I ASK MY HOTEL CONCEIRGE FOR DETAILS?

Yes, most concierges’ from all major hotel chains and smaller hotels are familiar with the Voodoo Lounge and can give you directions. Many of them are involved in our ‘Concierge Elite’ program and can issue you an entry pass. We also stage nights during the year for participating concierge elite pass holders and seek to maintain a good report with all hotels, motel and restaurant proprietors.

IS THERE PARKING ANYWHERE CLOSE?

Yes, there is parking in the multi-level carpark on the corner of Lake Street and Roe Street (entry from Roes Street), as also; on the Corner of Milligan and James Streets (opposite Rosie O'Grady's), and; in the street behind Voodoo (the large carpark between Francis St and Aberdeen St). However, on a weekend after 11p.m. these do fill quickly.

WHERE IS THE NEAREST TAXI RANK?

The nearest Taxi rank is only (approx) 120 metres to your right when exiting the Voodoo Lounge, diagonally across the road outside Rosie O'Grady's. This has recently been fully upgraded, with shelter, lighting and security and is undoubtedly the best rank in Northbridge.

DO WE HAVE TO QUEUE TO GET IN

Generally speaking ‘No’. However, on the Friday Nights or week nights when we are staging our Big Events (particularly the more popular ‘alternative’ ones), you will need to queue and further, if tickets have been sold through BOCS Ticket outlets as well as at the door (as we do for several of our Balls), you might not get in. The best advice is “be early” as invariably, by human nature, the majority of people always run late!

DO THE DANCERS GO HOME WITH YOU?

No. Only in the movies... and mainly teenage movies, where strippers are also hookers, but not in real life. The dancers specialise in the art of ‘sexiness’, flirtation and friendliness. See also our page “Striptease” on this website.

We do not allow any hookers to work at our club, nor do we permit patrons to proposition dancers for the purpose of prostitution.

AREN’T TABLETOP CLUBS A BIT SLEAZLY?

Some are, because striptease serves as a ritual form of psycho-drama which dates back to pre-history man, where the subconscious mind-play is between one specialised woman and a group of men, within a specific enviro
